1 - Three more from the Rockwell school of outrageous colours - an off-camera blast from the speedlite helped illuminate the foreground and steps. I've been exploring the in-camera image stacking utility (3 x 30 second exposures for no.2) a bit lately - you can set it boost the signal to noise ratio while keeping overall brightness the same, or you can stack the exposures on top of one another to brighten particularly dim scenes. All you need is a tripod and some patience...
