Cheerfully Quoting Baudrillard (Again)

1 - 'Everywhere one seeks to produce meaning, to make the world signify, to render it visible. We are not, however, in danger of lacking meaning; quite the contrary, we are gorged with meaning and it is killing us.'

2 - 'Perhaps our eyes are merely a blank film which is taken from us after our deaths to be developed elsewhere and screened as our life story in some infernal cinema or dispatched as microfilm into the sidereal void.'

South-East Asian Night Market

Saturday night featured a SE Asian style night market, a lot of noodles, and a bunch of dancers from exotic locales including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. Check out the photos:

Dance Your Socks Off Festival Programme Launch

1 - The end of last month featured the programme launch for next month's Dance Your Socks Off! Festival: there were a few speeches and a bunch of people dancing the Charleston, as well as some hip-hoppers... I was there to capture a few scenes (if you call ISO6400, 1/15s at f1.8 'capturing' - it was really, really, really dark)

Counting Blue Cars

1 - It seems it only rains on weekends... anyway, I took the camera for a walk between and during some rather freezing wintry squalls, partly to test out the camera's 14-bit colour mode, but also with a bit of desperation to capture some scenes that didn't insist on immediate deletion as soon as I downloaded them. Today's title is borrowed from a song by 1990s one hit wonders Dishwalla. Of course, Dishwalla don't quite compare to the 1990s luminaries like Los del Rio, Right Said Fred, or The Rembandts for one hit wonder-dom, but the photos were blue, and I needed a title.

Gak! Squawk!

1 - things are a bit quiet on the weblog front, but let me assure my valued readers that a few things (interesting things!) are gurgling away just beneath the surface...

Rain, Rain

1- 'Rain, rain on my face
It hasn't stopped raining for days
My world is a flood
Slowly I become one with the mud'
~ Flood, Jars of Clay
